The RV Care-A-Vanner program is is coordinated through Habitat for Humanity International in Americus GA. Volunteers who travel in recreational vehicles are matched with local Habitat affiliates in need of volunteer support. Care-A-Vanners stay in their RVs at our campground while working shoulder to shoulder with local Habitat staff and the future Habitat homeowner.
RV Care-A-Vanners come from all over North America and from all walks of life—doctors lawyers, engineers, corporate managers, mechanics, truck drivers, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, etc. The majority are at or near retirement age, and their construction skills range from professional to first-time builder. RV Care-A-Vanners typically stay at our campground for two weeks at a time, and they pay their own expenses to travel to Habitat building projects.
In addition to the RV hookups, the Dade City Campground is now equipped with a new Canteen Pavillion which includes: a covered area with picnic tables, 2 full bathrooms with showers, a full kitchen, a fire pit for evening campfires, washers and dryers.
